Dear colleague,

We are pleased to announce the 15th INTERCARTO–INTERGIS conference, which will be held in two different cities. The first part of the conference will be held in the city of Perm, Russia; the second part will be held in the city of Ghent, Belgium. Separate registration is possible.

We invite you to submit an extended abstract (500-1000 words) electronically at the conference website by March 2, 2009. Authors will be notified by March 20, 2009 if their abstracts have been accepted for presentation at the conference. Full papers (up to 10 pages) will be due at the conference website by May 2, 2009.

EXTENDED DEADLINES
Submission of extended abstract: March 2, 2009.
Notification of acceptance of extended abstract: March 20, 2009.

TOPICS
Research papers related to all aspects of cartography and GIS will be considered. Contributions on the following topics are particularly welcome:

- GIS support of sustainable development of territories (including theory, geopolitical processes and territorial management); – Mobile GIS; – Remote sensing techniques for analyzing land use, vegetation and sustainable development; – GIS support for solving water-ecological, geological and geophysical problems; – GIS and business; – Sustainable development and tourism (problems and perspectives); – Spatial data infrastructure; – GIS-education for sustainable development.

Online registration for Ghent and/or Perm is open at http://www.intercartogis.org.

WORKSHOPS

Two workshops are organized by the International Cartographic Association (ICA) on July 6, 2009. They are a complementary forum to the main conference, encouraging discussions in small groups on the themes ‘GIS education systems’ and ‘quality management’. The workshops are organized by Vladimir Tikunov, Alexander Simonov and Philippe De Maeyer.
