26th ECGS Workshop on Active Volcanism & Continental Rifting, with special focus on the Virunga
19th November, 2007 – 21st November, 2007
26th ECGS Workshop on Active Volcanism & Continental Rifting, with special focus on the Virunga (North Kivu, DR of Congo)
The 26th edition of the multi-disciplinary ECGS workshops is dedicated this year to Continental Rifting and Volcanology.
The workshop is co-organized by the European Center for Geodynamics and Seismology (ECGS), the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA) and the National Museum of Natural History (NMHN).
The workshop intends to bring together scientists from different disciplines (geology, volcanology, geodesy, geodynamics, seismology…) to share their knowledge and discuss the complex relationships between continental rifting and magmatism. It will also dedicate specific attention to the use of modern modeling approaches and state-of-the-art observational techniques such as remote sensing, radar interferometry, GPS, geochemistry etc.
