English Heritage is a public body, established in 1983, with responsibility for all aspects of protecting and promoting the historic environment. It is an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the governments Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
The Metric Survey Team, incorporating the Photogrammetric and Measured Survey Units, currently resides within the Imaging, Graphics and Survey Team and provides specialist advice across the organisation on all aspects of applying metric survey to heritage. It plays a lead role in research development, training, outreach, publications and advice to other heritage organisations; manages English Heritage’s commercial procurement of survey data as well as retaining a practical, non-commercial, in-house metric survey capability.
