Research: The use of Remotely Sensed Imagery & GIS to detect Deformational Structures caused by Earthquakes in the Kopet Dagh
Details of Research: To show how remotely-sensed satellite imagery and GIS techniques can be used to identify linear and deformational structures caused by series of earthquakes in the Kopet Dagh Mountain range and how resourcefully used remote sensing data can give information on the spread of active faulting covering large deformational areas; and the interactions between these deformational structures to understand the evolution of tectonism in the Kopet Dagh. As well as to show how these remotely detected structural details can be helpfull for effective exploration activities, disaster management and environmental monitoring.
